We thought we'd bring a touch of Calgary to Mahone Bay with our first (maybe annual) Stampede Party. Had so much fun hosting friends and family complete with Cowboy cocktails, boots, hats, and backdrop for photos... cheers to hosting friends. Adrian's booze belt was a hit and he had a great time delivering our signature cocktails to folks as they arrived. We served a Blueberry Gintastic and a Sour Cherry Lemonade - along with a non-alcoholic Raspberry Lemonade.
We even had a great backdrop for photos but the weather was too warm for many takes - big thank you to Justin and Shannon for being good sports and giving us a great photo with the backdrop.

We're building a home - a family sized Boma that can be rented when we're not there and is ours to call home when we are. Very excited to see our new place and to begin hosting friends and family in this unique space. Let us know if you'd like to join us at anytime.

So excited about this project. Our friends in Tanzania at the Eco Boma in Makayuni finished building the new kitchen and dining area - so proud to have helped support this project. We're booked to visit in September and help officially open/celebrate this essential addition to the Boma's offering and ability to host guests well.
The new kitchen support the Maasai Eco Boma and Warrior Walk project which in turn supports the school!

What an adventure - back to Cancun for Adrian's second dental appointment and to get his temporary bridge replaced so he has front teeth again.
We were thrilled Carrie could join us too.
Our boutique hotel was okay - lovely spot but a bit out of the way, and no coffee!!! The weather began well and we got some lovely sun.  Adrian had 3 dental appts and now has front teeth again.  Then came hurricane Beryl - and everything changed. We had to rebook our flights home and managed to get flights out two days early - phew. By the time we left our hotel, no restaurants or tours around us were operating and our hotel and other businesses had begun putting away lounge chairs, and securing things. Not sure what staying would have looked like but I wasn't excited to find out. Fun fact - the airport stops serving alcohol and closes their lounges for hurricanes too!! Very long wait in the airport. Did I mention - Adrian has front teeth again? So mission accomplished. Huge thank you to Carrie for taking all the chaos in stride.
Update: Fortunately Carrie did get to fly out on Thursday and sadly our 8pm flight got cancelled around 5pm. This caused us to have to scramble - public transportation was shutting down at 8 pm; and we'd checked out of our hotel a day early. Fortunately they were able to take us back. We ended up agreeing to a very expensive taxi ride back to our hotel, with an assurance of a return pick-up whenever we got new flights. So we have a place to stay and water - so far we have power too! We leave now on Sunday afternoon. Fingers crossed the convenience stores reopen soon so we can get something to eat. Storm not so bad where we are.
Hurricane Beryl turned out to be okay for us - we lost access to stores, restaurants etc from about noon on Thursday through Friday afternoon. The hotel finally provided some coffee Friday am and some food for us - we hadn't eaten since noon on Thursday. Saturday things began to get pout back together, the pool lounges reappeared along with the sun. Our flight out Sunday afternoon began well - but our connection from Montreal to Halifax got canceled while we were still in the air on the way. Our flight got canceled, rebooked and then permanently cancelled and rebooked for Monday morning. So we spent Sunday night in Montreal eventually arriving home at noon on Monday - did I mention Adrian has teeth again!!

What a fabulous trip! So much fun with the Bohach crew on the Shuswap again. POur captains, Brad and Jason did a stellar job finding us our own beach, complete with trails, fire pit and thanks to Loring, horseshoes! This year we had a white night theme complete with glowing glasses and jewelry courtesy of Celeste and Graham. We also celebrated Phoebe's Birthday with a fun horse theme - don't miss Brad, and Owen and River riding the horse in the photos below.

We got to spend a wonderful week with Adrian's sister Chrisse and her husband Warren on Prelude Lake North of Yellowknife. So much fun, catching up with family, viewing the northern lights, snowshoeing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, sausage making, and so much more. This was my first trip to NWT and what a great adventure we had. Chrisse and Warren have a wonderful cabin, complete with a bunkee for us! The weather was fabulous , the northern lights cooperated and Adria gained 10lbs enjoying Chrisse's cooking.
