We made it - boarded Insignia - our home for the next 6 months today. Too busy unpacking and getting our supply of wine for the trip to explore and take pictures - that will have to come tomorrow. Excited to be on board - feeling quite young in comparison to the rest of the passengers, lots of scooters and canes all around!

We started our journey in the Orchard Garden Hotel - 466 Bush Street, SF - lovely spot and great location. Our cruise includes one night in the ship's chosen hotel - so we moved to the Fairmont Hotel today - my goodness it was quite a trek, all uphill with 2 bags each...
Today we had brunch in the Embarcadero and spent the late morning doing a wine tasting with cheese and bread in the wine store on the pier. very civilized. On our way to the waterfront we got to see part of a parade of school students in Chinatown! We spent the afternoon looking for a few things we needed for the trip - including bandaids for my new blister and cigars for Adrian. Stopped at a bar on the big trek back up the hill to the fairmont when it started to pour around 3 - left in time to be back to our room by 6. Stopped by the cruise desk so we're all set to transfer to the ship at 11:15 tomorrow morning - then the real adventure begins.

Soggy day in San Fransisco. Started with a fabulous breakfast at Pier 0 - walked the full Embarcadero, saw the sea lions, visited Ghirardelli's chocolates, followed by Irish coffee and clam chowder at Buena Vista. Walk to view Lombard Street and then had a great afternoon at Comstock complete with NB oysters. Finally dinner at Mona Lisa's and an early night!!

The ship has internet and so we should be able to stay in touch reasonable well.
Our cell phones, text messaging and email will work - please note the time difference!
Adrian 403-605-2924; adrianbohach@gmail.com / Lynn 902-514-5376; lynn.hennigar@gmail.com
We will be checking our computers and phones but not regularly and I won't be posting to social media - I'll be posting here.
We're both also on Whatsapp if you'd like to connect to us - the app is available free from the app store and there's a computer version https://web.whatsapp.com/
In an emergency you can also call the ship 1-866-242-7447 - you'll need your credit card handy and the ship name (Insignia) Cabin 7059 - calls are billed at $6.95 US per minute rounded up so this is an emergency only option.

Wow - what a travel day. Both flights were delayed! We tried to use the new MPC app to speed through customs and the process was down - did get us to the head of the line which was great since we had to run to make our flight - which was then, you guessed it delayed.
We only checked one bag - all the stuff we couldn't ship - it of course didn't arrive with us. Kudos to AC though - I had a note as we ;anded that the bag was delayed and could provide a delivery address - luggage was delivered at 12:20 am so we're here with everything!
Yes we know we need to be more creative with our photos - hoping to practice today as we explore the city - Sunday we board the ship!

Big day for us! Our luggage is on it's way to San Francisco and should be in our cabin when we board on January 15...stay tuned!!
First time ever shipping luggage, who knew that was a thing. Customs forms and directions followed, now fingers and toes crossed that our luggage gets there!
Interestingly there were lots of exclusions - stuff we couldn't ship - so we're still going to have one checked bag when we fly on January 12! You can't send, anything with batteries, aerosols, vitamins or medications of any kind. Just like ordering online we'll be able to track out bags as they go!
Excited - only 15 days before we fly and 18 before we sail! Happy New Year everyone!
Lynn and Adrian
UPDATE- no pick-up on the 28th, rescheduled for the 29th - fingers crossed!!!

Here is an approximation of our route - as with any travel, world events will impact our trip. Our one stop in Russia was cancelled before we made our final payment and now China has been removed. The file attached is our detailed day by day itinerary - first 2 pages - the third page contains the changes we received when Oceania removed China from our stops. We've lost China but gained more time and stops in Vietnam and two new stops in the Philippines. It's our plan to provide daily or close to daily updates and that's how you'll know exactly where we are.
