Today windy and rainy day. We were back at the clinic in the afternoon for one final crown and to have Adrian's bite adjusted. They moved his bite slightly more than typically recommended and now his back teeth actually touch. Although today he had another couple hours in the chair and he still has some lingering pain we did enjoy an actual meal. Adrian cleaned his plate and he had steak! I treated him to access to the Calgary Flames versus buffalo - actually got my new VPN working on my laptop - we have access to our streaming services while travelling now! We watched the game in bed - the weather was rainy and cold and the only hotel restaurant is open to the elements. They did have their tarps up to provide some protection but we were both frozen by the end of dinner. One final appointment on Saturday morning before we fly out in the afternoon. Excited to be coming home!

Today's the big day. Adrian posed for a before picture of his temporary teeth so we can provide a comparison. He's in the chair for 5 hours today so the follow-up picture might be in tomorrow's blog. It poured last night and we woke up to lots of cloud and wind. Great day to be in a dental clinic though. We're both excited to get to the end of this journey. Adrian took a few photos as things progressed.

We started our day with a Starbucks coffee followed by lots of beach and swim time. The weather's been pretty iffy and is supposed to turn to rain toward the end of the week so we packed as much beach time in as we could. Tonight we had dinner at Mextreme - so Adrian could have his favourite Mexican soup, Pozole . From there we did a grocery store run to make sure we had enough in stock to cook in the room for the next day or so depending on how his big day goes tomorrow!

Huge thank you to Adrian's daughter, Jamie, and her family for their donation toward bicycles for the Maasai community in Tanzania. Thank you for making a difference!

We had such a great weekend walking and swimming I was excited to keep up the routine today. We started out okay - dentist appointment for Adrian at 9am - finally a fix for his sharp tooth and tongue issue, some new pain relief for the tongue and a new mouth rinse. Next appointment wednesday - another doozy - 5 hours or so. They'll start with his permanent uppers and then move to the permanent lowers if he feels he can continue.
After the dentist we walked into the shopping area - visit a Farmacia to get his mouth rinse, Starbucks for a decent coffee and then a walk home. It was cloudy and windy and by the time we got back to the hotel it had started to rain. Our calm beach was no longer calm and the spitting rain turned into a downpour. I decided to try and update this blog while Adrian did some accounting work. By about 4pm the rain had lessened and we decided to go to the restaurant just as the power went out. Fortunately the restaurant could still serve food, no mixed drinks though. Adrian had a seafood soup and I had a tortilla lime soup. Good to get out of the room and away from the inauguration updates.

Well - we had a great weekend, so much great walking and lots of time in the water - hugely grateful the weather was fabulous. Unfortunately Adrian continued to struggle with a sharp area hitting his tongue - making eating and talking both painful. His next appointment isn't until Monday morning, so we decided to get create. We bought some gum and with some chewing help from me, Adrian was able to use it to protect his tongue from the sharp tooth. This idea worked about 80%. So we also ate mostly protein shakes and soft foods. we even had our fisrt ever, left over pasta soup. I blended the leftover pasta with some more milk and then heated it and served it like soup. Tasted great - even if it looked mostly like wallpaper paste. By Sunday Adrian even managed a ham and cheese sandwich made on soft white bread. Unfortunately we didn't take pictures!

Adrian woke up this morning with a rough ridge on one side of his mouth which was shredding his tongue. Fortunately the clinic was able to see us today to try and fix it. I managed to get a picture of the top new teeth too! Tonight we walked into the restaurant area near us and tried some lovely soft pasta. Made tableside inside a parmesan wheel - the show was a treat. Sadly, Adrian could only anjoy about 1/3. To eb fair it was a big serving and we took the rest of our back to the hotel.

Today Adrian woke up feeling much better - we managed to go for a couple walks, pick up some more grocery supplies and then had dinner at Navios - one of our favourite restaurants on the lagoon, known for their food and sunsets. Late afternoon the wind came up and it began to pour - so we didn't get much sunset wise. Great food, drinks and entertainment though. The steak is Adrian's - a choice he may regret - fingers crossed. I had the truffle risotto with shrimp and scallops - if i could have crawled into the bowl I would have. Don't miss the musician behind Adrian in the last photo.

Poor Adrian - today he spent from 9am until 4:30 pm in the dentist chair - minus two very brief pee breaks! The first photo shows our options for the final colour of his new teeth. The remainder are his during and after photos. He came out so swollen he couldn't talk, eat or even drink with a straw. They gave him a shot to reduce the swelling and some great meds and we headed back the the hotel to recover.

After an early night last night today we had a chance to explore the beach, as well as get some groceries so Adrian can have something he can eat and we can have a few drinks. We ventured our for nachos, Carrie and I found a great place last visit, sadly our order lost something in translation, tasted great but certainly not nachos!
