I had a great day helping out at the Entrepreneurial Olympics hosted by LIFT at the NSCC Lunenburg Campus. So great connecting with Claire Louise, Evelyn and Elspeth.

Quark Expeditions provides the photos from the ship's official photographer plus any passengers who's like to share. As you can see many folks had far more powerful cameras than we did!!! Including my Arctic plunge.

Lovely fall visit to the beach house - big thank you to my brother David for lending us his truck. We're still waiting on word about our mini Ruby. We had a beautiful drive to the island, hosted our friend Stan for dinner Sunday night and he returned the favour on Monday night. We love walking the beach and even got a pick of Stan going for a swim - not something either of us were tempted to do. Until next year....

What an eventful evening! Adrian and I wanted to be with our good friend Elspeth for her election results party in Wileville. We headed out a few minutes late and chose to take the 103 hwy. Sadly just before Exit 12 a full size female deer ran into the front drivers side of Ruby, our mini convertible. Fortunately Adrian was driving and managed to keep us on the road and negotiate us to the side. Huge thank you to my brother David who called a tow truck for us and then picked us up and took us to Elspeth's event. We arrived just in time for her win announcement. So proud and excited for her!
Unfortunately I don't think Ruby fared very well. We'll see what the adjusters say but while she took the hit like a trooper the damage is pretty significant. Interestingly no airbags deployed.

Fabulous night at Bar Salvadore in Lunenburg celebrating Kate's birthday. We had a great time enjoying Happy Hour and nibbles at the bar and then Vicki graciously hosted us at her place for wonderful soup and of course a delicious birthday cake!

Today we begin our first day of the two days it will take to get home. We decided to go to Zanzibar at the last minute so we have to fly back to Kilimanjaro airport via Dar es Salaam and then catch our flight home - which sadly also stops in Dar es Salaam. So that makes it 6 flights to get home. You know it's been a good vacation when everyone's exhausted on the way home. We had a chance to catch up with the rest of the team and grab a group photo in the airport.

Today we decided to truly play tourist and go swim with the giant turtles. Cael got bitten on the finger, a good dent but no broken skin - Adrian got bitten on his side - broken skin here. Regardless we had a great time - if a bit terrifying at times....

Today we travel to Zanzibar, and Jeff and Irene return to Uganda. We had a morning flight from Kilimanjaro Airport to Zanzibar. Fortunately, we had a driver meet our flight and arranged a tour of Stone Town, before heading to our hotel. It's a beautiful day but far more humid than at the Boma. We had lunch at a lovely restaurant and then did some walking around Stone Town. We visited one of the Slave Trade locations and had a very informative if horrifying tour of the underground areas where slaves were held pending their sale. We also got to see Freddie Mercury's house.
We had a fabulous 3 bedroom villa at the Sunny Palms Beach Beach Bungalows. The resort was beautiful, on the beach - the only drawback was it's not licensed to sell alcohol. Lucky for us the hotel next door was. Our first evening was spent exploring the area.
