Gorgeous sunny sea day! Adrian and I spend a lot of time on our balcony but I find myself there even more while he's away. This morning I was out for several hours watching the dolphins and the many boats that we passed - last night we passed numerous oil rigs - all lit up at night. Our balcony is a great place for ocean, cloud and star gazing.
Today I managed to get out of my own way enough to attend the first cooking class demonstration offered onboard. We have two guest chefs sailing with us Chef David Deshaies and his wife Ana who's a pastry chef.
The demonstrated how to make Scallop "Gnocchi" and Egg'ceptional Lemon Tart. I got a chance to taste the scallop gnocchi and they were a tad flavourless - the deconstructed lemon tart - as chocolate hazelnut cups with lemon curd, meringue and a graham cracker crumble - looked pretty impressive, didn't get a taste. The chocolate cups were pretty neat - made using an egg cup silicon mold from amazon, filled with water and frozen with a stick - you actually dip the ice (well dried) into the chocolate mixture to create the cups, plan to try when I get home. Sadly, while the ship shared the recipes, they are to feed 100, not all that useful.
The demo was fun though - a couple passengers provided some extra help, including our friend Steve the artist.
