Today we were in Vigo one of the largest and most important fishing ports in all of Europe. The city is a combination of ancient history, beautiful beaches and a modern cosmopolitan outlook. We did out usual walk about, exploring some of the old city and taking the opportunity to walk to the top of the central hill overlooking the harbour. The city is on a hillside so lots of climbing and it boast a number of outdoor escalators to make the climb easier. The escalators only go up though - so you're on your own for the downside. We walked both, up all the stairs to the old fort and then back down to the central square for some refreshments.
It was a lovely day with a cool breeze. Many shops close in the afternoon for a siesta - we didn't arrive in port until 1:30pm.
